Madeline (Maddie) Heineman

My name is Maddie Heineman, and I am from Greenwood, Indiana. Currently, I'm studying at Asbury University and double majoring in Multimedia Journalism and Media Communication with an emphasis in TV and Video Production. I also spent the majority of my college career as a starter on the Asbury Women’s Golf Team. After I graduate in December of 2023, I hope to start my career producing broadcast news. As an upbeat, self-motivated team player with excellent communication, I envision an exciting future in the industry.

Currently, I am completing my last semester of classes, and like normal, it has been full of exciting opportunities and work.

​

This semester, in addition to remaining on as The Collegian's sports editor (my third year in the role), I am now a news editor, which means I write around five articles a week. I have used my experience from writing for WRTV to help me, but I also have grown in my news writing skills from the hands-on experience. I am expanding my sports writing by getting into commentaries where I address sports and news to make a statement about needed change or progress we can already see.

Additonally, I am working as a part of a directed study to assist with live production of Asbury sporting events. I help produce for certain Asbury Sports Digital Network games, but a few weeks ago, we added an additional element. We now have a 10-15 minute look-live gameday preshow called EPIC Sports. I worked with the athletic and media communications department to fully create the show in two weeks. We are running 5 shows total, covering almost every sport competing at home every semester.
